Yes you can eat rice. We are a hispanic family and rice is a large part of our diet. My daughter is diabetic and eats rice almost daily. For 1/2 cup of rice it is 20 carbs. With diabetes everything you eat should be a certain amount and in accordance with your nutritional plan/carb ratios. |

With diabetes you really can eat whatever you want as long as you count the carbs. Type 2 diabetics reduce carb intake in an effort to avoid insulin, it can be totally controlled in many instances through diet. In this case it is always wise to keep your carb intake low, however as long as you take insulin for the carbs you ingest you should be fine. Type 1 you always have to dose, reducing carbs won't change that fact. So eat what you want, but count your carbs to dose for it. You should always remember, however, that reducing carbs can reduce yo-yoing blood sugar levels as well as the amount of insulin you use which helps you keep your diabetes under better control. In either case as long as you count your carbs and dose appropriately you can eat pretty much what you want. |

You can eat rice, but note that brown rice or wild rice (basically, anything except processed white rice) will have less of an effect on your blod sugar levels than white rice does. Whole grains are always better for you. |
